A week has now passed and it was a week filled with accomplishments. I actually decided to change my place of curation; so instead of a Tumblr blog, I am now curating on Pinterest. I felt it would be easier to use the different boards to organize the different items that I have curated. I designed a Pinterest page called HipstrPrspectiv (because it can only be 15 characters long) that currently has fourteen items pinned onto different boards, according to what category they fall into. I have made boards for: quotes, outfits, music, and accessories, beauty, photographs and miscellaneous items.
The most interesting piece of information I found this week on my search for the epitome of hipster/anti-mainstream, has got to be the fact that people who are part of this movement know about things before everyone else does. Like they are able to find things in their lives, around the world, or on the internet before anyone else can, and when that song finally plays on the radio or the rest of the world finds out about that website or teenagers catch up to that fashion trend, they have already known about it for a while. They know about things before they're "cool."
Right now, the biggest obstacle I have to overcome is finding music that hasn't been played on the radio yet. Music that hasn't really been heard of. And evaluate each song to make sure it doesn't beautify drugs and alcohol. This will be hard for me because I only listen to mainstream music so this should be a challenge.
The next three steps are going to be: finding music that narrates this anti-mainstream movement, finding more written information, adding on to the categories I already have.
I'm doing pretty well on finding photos and I hope it continues to be that way.
